 Round or Angular aggregates
It’s difficult to conclude based on the visual shape of aggregate. Both Round and angular aggregates having their own pro and corns:
ï“ŒAdvantage of round angular aggregate:
1. Angular Aggregates exhibit a better interlocking effect in concrete because of its shape.
2.The total surface area of angular aggregate is more than rounded aggregate.Thus they show higher bond strength.
However, angular aggregate is harder to compact (particularly if it is “corn flakes†in shape. That means that more water is used in the mix for the same workability, meaning a poorer WC ratio. Corn flakes are also prone to trapping water under the particles (“internal bleedâ€), reducing the bond of the cement paste to the aggregate. And raising the drying shrinkage.

Conclusion:
   So, in practice, it’s a matter of balancing issues. we should always carry out proper mix design for strength check considering local availability of aggregate and the economics.
