  • The Mumbai Nagpur expressway is a six-lane expressway expandable to eight lanes. It will traverse through 10 districts, 26 tehsils, and over 390 villages. with direct connectivity to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). Intelligent Transport System for Mumbai Nagpur Expressway route

The Government of India and the Government of the Republic of Korea have signed an agreement worth Rs 1,495 crore to implement an Intelligent Transport System (ITS)along the Mumbai Nagpur Expressway. With the assistance of an Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) loan, the project will focus on setting up an Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) and a traffic centre.
The objectives of the project include enhancing traffic management efficiency, developing a sustainable ITS model, and improving toll management efficiency through the establishment of a Toll Collection System (TCS).

The expressway has been engineered for optimal speeds of 150 km/h on flat terrain and 120 km/h on hilly terrain. Despite the legal speed limit for cars being 120 km/h and 80 km/h for trucks, enforced by CCTV cameras, this highway is considered the fastest in the nation. The reduced travel time between the two cities will decrease from 16 hours to just eight hours.
