Gold Line Metro 8:The government plans to expedite a project for Rs 15,000 crore that will improve connectivity between the airports in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

The Gold Line will be the new name for Mumbai metro line 8. The planned Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) would be connected by a metro line. On the Mumbai metro route map, Metro Line 8 will stand out from the other lines that are intended for the network..

About Metro Line 8

Improving connectivity between the Santacruz airport and the Navi Mumbai airport which is presently being built is the aim of the proposed Mumbai Metro Line 8. The metro line will span about 40 kilometers. To ensure faster connectivity there will be about seven metro stops along the route.

In 2025 or early 2026, the NMIA will be expected to be operational. The completion of Mumbai metro line 8 could therefore take place at that time. Currently, the DPR is being finalized. In terms of speed and number of stations, the Gold line to the airport will resemble the Delhi Airport metro line. The frequency of the airport line will be lower compared to that of regular metro service. Every 15 minutes is the frequency for this line.

Compared to the normal metro, the Gold Line metro will be faster. About 90 km/h is the metro speed limit for the airport route. To guarantee more rapid and higher-speed transit, the Mumbai metro line 8 route plan would have fewer stations.

Approximately 5 lakh passengers are expected to travel daily on the Gold Line, popularly referred to as the Mumbai metro airport line. An estimated Rs 15000 crores would be spent on the Gold line to the airport.

Mumbai Metro Line 8: Summary Construction Proposal for Mumbai Metro Line 8

Significant information regarding the Mumbai Metro Gold Line are as follows: The metro line will be constructed by the City & Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) in partnership with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). In the Navi Mumbai region, CIDCO would oversee work, while MMRDA will be in charge of building metro lines in the Mumbai region.

According to the proposed plan, the Gold Line will be partially elevated and half underground. It will be the Gathkopar to Mankhurd Link Road, an elevated corridor connecting Ghatkopar and Mankhurd.

The full project report for Mumbai Metro Line 8 has been prepared by CIDCO. By October 2022, CIDCO was asked to prepare it by the MMRDA. On Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1A, the DPR for the Mumbai Airport Line route chart was made for the segments from Belapur to Navi Mumbai and from Mankhurd to Sagar Sangam.
