Aluminum Formwork: Advantages and Disadvantages
Nowadays this for work is very popular for multistoried buildings. There are a lot of advantages in terms of cost and time. The main advantages and disadvantages are as follows:
Aluminum formwork advantages:
- High Speed – Can achieve floor to floor cycle time as minimum as 4 -5 days.
- Initial Cost – Initial cost is very but if we have utilization more than 80 then it becomes cost effective.
- Durability – Long life being non corrosive in nature, can perform more than 200 repetitions with proper maintenance & refurbishment.
- High Labor Productivity – Very light weight, easy manual handling, basically single type of panel joints, no tower crane dependency.
- Quality – Excellent concrete surface finish, enables elimination of plastering thereby saving project duration and cost.
- High salvage value.
Aluminum formwork disadvantages:
- Very high initial cost approx.. Rs 8000/SqM.
- Not cost effective for lesser repetition.
- Compatible only for residential apartments with repetitive layouts and restricted loads
- Chances for pilferage due to high cost.
